May 30, 2019 – It’s 6.20 pm. We have aching arms, legs, shoulders, back from the efforts made. The house is half-empty: bedroom, living room, kitchen table have disappeared, partly sold, partly redistributed between the garage and the house of Paolo’s parents. Falkor is out here, ready to welcome us for the first time no longer as traveling tourists, but as fulltimers. Since yesterday, it has been connected to the electricity: the batteries are full, the refrigerator has gone up to temperature (4.7 degrees), the clothes are stowed, the bed still to be made. To complete the supply, we have to move food and personal hygiene products.
But the fundamental thing is that no night (with exceptions) will no longer be spent within four walls, no lunch will be consumed in what until now has been our kitchen. Before returning the keys of the apartment to the owner we will be able to allow ourselves a couple of showers, finish storing some frozen food and maybe cook the last meals on the stove (to be consumed strictly on the motorhome). In short, from today we are technically fulltimers. From the weekend we will be 100 percent!
The sensations you feel are strange. After every move made in the past, at the end of a hard (sometimes very hard) day we felt disoriented, transferred from four walls to four new walls that we didn’t feel like home. For that it always takes a few days, more easily a few weeks … Today is different. You feel weird, of course, but also in the “right place”. After all, we spent many holidays in the motorhome, many weekends, many days strolling around to discover Italy and Europe. So, you find yourself in a small family wedding favor, only with the impression of being at the beginning of a holiday that will never end (maybe it really was!). The new fulltimer life has begun.
