November 3, 2018 – Several months have passed since we wrote some reflections on the project to become fulltimers. It was a complex period, which went through several phases. Before the summer, work at the bar improved slightly and the idea of participating in a municipal announcement to manage the local library bar had taken hold. This idea took a lot of time to develop a sustainable economic plan and then to put together all the necessary documentation from a bureaucratic point of view. The initial enthusiasm for a new project, however, has given way to harsh reality: with the restrictions imposed by the public announcement it would have been impossible to make everything profitable.
Then luckily the holidays came, short but incredibly rewarding. We used the two weeks at our disposal to tour the Alps between Piedmont and France and above all to test some aspects of the future life as fulltimers, especially those related to free parking: in 15 nights, only one was done in camping (for the laundry) and three in parking areas (for loading and unloading water).
However, the return from vacation was tough, also because the bar lost some important customers (due to health or relocation reasons), causing the income to drop to a level that causes concern. For a couple of months, we have been struggling about how to cope with this situation by developing strategic plans to change the business. Except that in these conditions the desire for freedom has returned to make itself felt strong, indeed very strong.
So, here we are again, trying to plan, understand and finally go. Stay tuned!© 2021 seimetri.it – If you want to leave a comment on this article, you can do it on our Facebook page
