April 17, 2022 – Mantua is well worth a visit. Its historic center framed by the three lakes (Superiore, di Mezzo and Inferiore) is full of pearls to discover. To visit it, the most convenient stop for those traveling by motorhome is the Area Attrezzata Camper Sparafucile: only a bridge between the lakes of Mezzo and Inferiore separates the structure from the historic center, just over a kilometer in all. This short route is equipped with a cycle path and, for those who do not want or cannot walk or cycle, there is a free shuttle that takes you to Piazza Sordello from the parking on the opposite side of the road where the structure is located. When we visited the area, the bus ran every 12 minutes from 7.30 am to 9.00 pm on weekdays and from 9.00 am to 9.00 pm on holidays.
The area is surrounded by greenery and offers 56 places with electricity and water (closed in the winter months) on a dirt road, under the trees. The stalls are not delimited, and the opening of awnings is prohibited, in order not to limit the available capacity. Entry and exit are automated.
The area has heated bathrooms with hot showers included in the price and some external sinks for dishes. The area for loading and unloading water is comfortable and sufficiently separated from the pitches, with a steel tank that can be driven over and a column for cassette toilets.
This is a very nice property, which fills up quickly on spring/summer weekends and holidays. The only drawback is the price: when we passed on April 16, 2022, it was € 21 (not a few, but adequate to the services offered), but the municipal council had approved an increase to € 30 in the previous days. Definitely too many. Due to the controversy raised, the increase has been suspended, and as we write we do not know if and when it will take effect. Compared to our judgment, at € 30 the Sparafucile Equipped Area would lose at least one star, because at those prices you go in a campsite.
